LUFTWAFFE FIGHTER-BOMBERS OVER BRITAIN: Tip & Run Campaign 1942-43 (softcover)
WHEN THE LUFTWAFFE REPLACED THEIR BIG PLANES WITH FIGHTER-BOMBERS AFTER THE ROYAL AIR FORCE WON THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN and stopped the planned German invasion of the British Isles, the Luftwaffe changed its aerial attack tactics and armed its fighters with bombs instead of using bombers. It was called the "tip and run" campaign and it was a serious problem for the British defenders from March 1942 until about June 1943 with London and other cities suffering the onslaught. Author Chris Goss with Peter Cornwell and Bernd Raubach tell the story of the damaging raids carried out by the German pilots and the steps taken by the British to try to hold them at bay. It is a fascinating chapter in the history of military aviation. The copy we offer is a quality paperback from the famous and collectible Stackpole Military History Series. It is profusely illustrated with black-and-white photographs of aircraft as well as many of the aircrew who flew them. Our copy is in excellent condition. It does have a black marker-pen line on the rear cover bar-code that can be seen in a photograph above. Otherwise there are no other flaws, no page markings, underlines, margin notes or dog-ears and there are no signs of prior ownership such as an inscription or a bookplate. It's a good copy. ++ All books sold by Mackie Books and Music are double packaged in bubble-wrap to guard against damage during shipping. + Click here to see other listings by Mackie Books and Music on eBay, including many books dealing with World War II.
